HELPING KIDS THROUGH LIFE

United Way’s Education Services Specialists are active in four local school districts.

Gretchen Social WorkerIn 2022, United Way was approached by two school districts expressing the need for additional school social workers. They had noticed an increase in the need for services and felt that additional support would make a major difference in the lives of their students.

United Way’s Education Services Specialists are licensed social workers who work directly in the school districts. Their main objective is to enhance the lives of our local students through support and resources that sometimes extend beyond in-school services to address non-academic barriers to learning.

Their services include: one-on-one sessions, group sessions, and crisis interventions. They work with students on social and emotional lessons, peer pressure, self-esteem, and overall guidance.

Currently, United Way is providing four school districts with six Education Services Specialists.

These schools include:

  • Cranberry Area School District
  • Oil City Area School District
  • Titusville Area School District
  • Valley Grove School District
