David L. Weber Community Garden
In 2020, United Way announced the development of the David L. Weber Memorial Community Garden. Mr. Weber was a beloved member of the community and a local historian. He always spoke about having a community garden and would often talk about the “Victory Garden” during WWII and how it benefited the community.
After his passing, United Way, with the help of the City of Titusville, decided to make his dream a reality and created a garden located at 103 W. Central Avenue, Titusville, PA. After many hours, and an intensive group effort, the lot was prepared and a mural was painted in his memory. The first harvest took place in 2023, and has since become a beloved landmark in the City of Titusville.
Residents are encouraged to visit the garden, sit and relax, and enjoy the fresh crops. Produce from the garden is donated to local food pantries including Associated Charities of Titusville PA and Titusville Area Food Pantry. Produce is also accessible to all community members, as the garden gate remains open during the gardening season.
In 2024 a shed was installed to provide a location for healthy eating education classes, as well as storage for garden supplies. Events are frequently held at the garden which are open to anyone who would like to attend.
Groups, and individuals, may volunteer to prepare, plant, and care for the garden.
