United Way Selected as Partner for “Too Small to Fail Initiative” Early Literacy Initiative.
Venango/Titusville, PA – United Way of Venango and Titusville Region has been named one of six United Ways across Pennsylvania to participate in Too Small to Fail, the early education initiative of the Clinton Foundation. This new program brings resources and tools to families across the state to strengthen early childhood literacy.
Through a partnership this partnership, local families will be provided with materials focused on supporting children ages 0 – 5, empowering parents and caregivers to foster their child’s educational development, recognizing that the first three years of a child’s life are crucial for language acquisition.
The core focus of the initiative is encouraging adults to talk, read, and sing with children, as these simple interactions significantly impact a child’s vocabulary development and overall readiness for school. Through partnerships with local community-based organizations, United Way is meeting families where they are, to help them prepare their children for success in school and beyond.
Upon receiving this award, United Way partnered with The Benson Memorial Library to provide free monthly books to Titusville Area children under the age of five. Families can pick up books at library events, including Baby & Me on Thursdays at 10:00 a.m., Book Buddies on Tuesdays at 11:15 a.m., or at the service desk during regular business hours. The program runs from June 2025 through May 2026. For every collected book, you will receive a stamp on a stamp card, and after eight stamps, your child will be gifted a bag of books and other helpful resources.
Other local activities include community posters with fun at-home learning ideas, literacy-themed events such as the Blooming Book Bash, and family-friendly Reading Trails across the region.
